Professional engineering is not just a job - it is a mindset and sometimes a way of life. Why not demonstrate your professionalism through an independently regulated qualification that is recognised and respected across the world?
Why register?
• Enhanced professional status
• Improved career prospects
• Higher earnings potential
• Employer assurance
Who can register?
Registration is open to anyone who can demonstrate competence to perform work to the necessary standards, commitment to maintain that competence, work within professional codes and participate actively within the profession.
How to register
Consider the standards required for registration as CEng, IEng and EngTech and decide which one applies to you (you should discuss this with your line manager or another registered engineer). If you are ready to apply, download an application form and applicants short guide and follow the process outlined in the guide. The current fee for undergoing Professional Review is £161. If successful you will be invoiced for your initial registration fee (see Fees). No further costs are payable until the next calendar year when the annual renewal fee charged by the Engineering Council will be added to your annual subscription.
International Registration
Individuals registered in the UK as Incorporated Engineers (IEng) now have the opportunity to gain wider recognition for their particular skills and expertise. Provided they have the necessary qualifications and experience, they can apply for the title of International Engineering Technologist (IntET), aimed at making it easier for holders to practise their profession overseas. The Engineering Council is responsible for maintaining the UK section of the IntET Register.
Anyone wishing to register can download an application form (Word or pdf). All applicants should read the guidance notes (download) before completing the application form. Registration fees are £90, renewable every five years at a fee of £25. Cheques should be payable to 'Institute of Water' and submitted with the application form and supporting evidence outlined on the form.
