Top Marks for Water Laboratory
8th March 2010
A water company has been given top marks for its laboratory work following an audit by an independent watchdog.
South East Water’s laboratory in Sturt Road, Frimley Green, Surrey, was given top marks for its work on monitoring water quality, during an inspection by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
The scientists at the laboratory were praised for their high standard of analytical expertise, as measured against strict, international quality standards.
Neil Hudson, Laboratory Manager at South East Water said: “This is an important mark of quality for the Company and we were delighted to get such positive feedback from the assessors about our performance over the last 12 months.
“Everyone at South East Water’s laboratory has played their part, including those who took part in the audit or those staff who have maintained the high standards of analytical excellence and documentation to meet the exacting requirements of accreditation.
“This means our customers can be assured of not only getting top quality drinking water from their taps, but having top quality processes and testing systems in place to make sure it stays that way.”
The 35 scientific staff at the laboratory carry out over 400,000 tests each year for South East Water and more than 50 other commercial customers.
These include other water companies, blue chip companies, environmental health organisations, private water supplies and building maintenance companies.
