Northern Ireland Water Invest £4M!

‘Water Treat’ for West Tyrone

NI Water is pleased to announce the start of work on a £4 million contract to upgrade the water treatment facilities at Lough Bradan in Co. Tyrone.

Bob McGarvey Project Manager NI Water, said:

“We are delighted to report that work has now started on this £4 million upgrade to the existing works. This project will deliver significant improvements to the security of supply and drinking water quality for residents in the West Tyrone area.”

The upgrade at Lough Bradan Water Treatment Works (situated to the west of Omagh) will involve extensive improvements to the plant, increasing the capacity of the facility, so that residential growth and development can be met well into the 21st century.

Work is now underway on the scheme and it is anticipated the upgrade will be complete by late 2010.

This investment in Lough Bradan is just one example of the scale of investment required to improve drinking water quality, meet European standards, respond to increasing demand and provide customers across Northern Ireland with a modern service.

This project is a working partnership between NI Water, AECOM Design Build and Farrans Construction of Northern Ireland.
