*FULLY BOOKED* United Utilities Oswestry Wtw Technical Visit

*This event is now fully booked*

Join the Institute of Water in partnership with United Utilities to take an exclusive tour around Owestry Water Treatment Works and to learn about some of the technology installed during the recent upgrade.

Oswestry Water Treatment Works is one of United Utilities largest facilities and supplies drinking water to around one million customers in parts of Cheshire and Merseyside. Opened in 1892, the works has recently undergone a multi-million pound upgrade to improve water quality, energy efficiency and to make it fit for the 21st Century. The new works includes chlorine dioxide dosing for manganese removal (a pioneering first in the UK), lamella clarification and new combined chlorine contact/clear water tank.  In addition to new process treatment units, 2 hydro turbines have been installed on site which will meet the power demand of the site whilst exporting surplus energy to the National Grid.

Light refreshments will be provided.

PPE is required for this visit. Requirements include: Steel toe-cap boots, hard hat, hi-vis jacket/vest, light eye protection safety gloves
