One Day Environment Conference 2018

How can we leave a legacy and not a liability?

The water sector in the UK is facing unprecedented challenges, now and in the future. This year’s Institute of Water Environment Conference will explore what we need to do for the environment and customers so that we leave a legacy and not a liability.

Institute of Water will be joined by Defra, Rachel Fletcher (Chief Executive, Ofwat), and Harvey Bradshaw (Executive Director of Environment and Business, Environment Agency) who will set out their views on the Water Industry challenges we are facing and what needs to be done to address them. Professor Alastair Driver will throw down the gauntlet on behalf of aquatic ecosystems, and young professionals from around the UK will tell us what they are doing in response.

We will also be joined by Paul Hickey (Deputy Director, Resources, Environment Agency) giving his perspective on how we ensure there’s enough water not just for people but also the environment and Linda Williams (HR Director, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water) and Luke Stanbridge (Commercial Director, Z-Tech Control Systems) will give us their take on what skills we need for the future and what we are doing to develop these.

Speakers include:

  • Ofwat - Rachel Fletcher, Chief Executive
  • Environment Agency - Harvey Bradshaw, Executive Director of Environment and Business
  • Defra - Dr Sebastian Catovsky, Deputy Director Water Services
  • National Infrastructure Commission - Dr Manuela di Mauro
  • Professor Alastair Driver
  • Environment Agency - Paul Hickey, Deputy Director, Resources
  • Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water - Linda Williams, HR Director,
  • Z-Tech Control Systems - Luke Stanbridge, Commercial Director

More to be announced!

Society for the Environment will be joining us on the day to answer all of your professional registration queries and armed with plenty of information about becoming a Chartered Environmentalist or a Registered Environmental Technician.

The conference is free to Institute of Water members, and at only £150 for non-members is exceptional value.
