Welcome to the Institute of Water Welsh Area!
The Welsh Area of the Institute of Water aims to support the careers of people working in all professions and at all levels across the water industry in Wales, by offering a unique and independent learning, development and networking framework. We cover most parts of Wales, and also some areas of Herefordshire.
We host many formal events throughout the year, from ‘lunch and learn’ sessions, to site tours and webinars, alongside a packed community calendar with beach cleans and Christmas and Summer Socials.
Our last Innovation Awards were held in April 2019 at the Mercure Holland House in Cardiff, with over 350 guests joining us to celebrate innovative success within the Welsh area in the last 12 months – all themed around the 50th anniversary of the moon landing – To Innovate and Beyond!
We won the Presidents Cup in 2013 and 2015 and were pleased to bring the Cup to Welsh Area again this year. We were presented with the President’s Cup at the recent Annual National Conference, Belfast by Simon Cyhanko, National Chair, with special mention of our “outstanding events programme”.
For more information about joining us in the Welsh area, please contact Charlotte Rhodes, Secretary, Welsh Area.
Welsh Area Lockdown Challenge!
Many of us are making the most of our daily walks during lockdown and discovering new places to explore nearby, so we’re asking members to share their adventures.
All you have to do is:
– take a picture on your next walk
– post it on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #WelshAreaChallenge
– also tag Institute of Water account if possible
We’ll then repost it and ask followers to guess the location.
We all need some light-hearted fun in times like these, so get snapping to share the love! We can’t wait to see all your photos.
Upcoming Welsh Area Events:
We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and the related Government guidelines. In light of an increase in confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the UK we have taken the difficult decision to postpone several of our IWater regional events.
Our main priority is the safety and health of our members, delegates, speakers and IWater team who are at the front line in providing essential water services and as a result we cannot justify putting anyone at risk.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
To keep up to date and view a list of upcoming events (and past events) in your Area, follow this link then filter by Area.
