The Institute of Water, founded in 1945, is the only professional body that exclusively supports the careers of anyone working in the UK water sector.

The Institute of Water supports the careers of people working in all professions and at all levels across the UK water sector by offering a unique and independent learning, development and networking framework.

Membership offers people who work in water (regardless of their qualifications or discipline/department) the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and develop within the sector.

  • Access a mentoring scheme designed to enhance internal employee development programmes and expose you to new elements of the water sector.
  • Access a tailor made induction course to the UK water sector.
  • Become a mentor or assessor.
  • Enhance your CV by getting involved on your local Area Committee and organise activities and events.
  • Access a tailor made programme developed in partnership with Utility Week to celebrate and reward eight young members each year who have demonstrated both the potential and an appetite to progress in the water sector.
